The Chairman of the Board of Directors Message
The first quarter of the year is finished, it is important to take stock of what these first months of 2018 have been.
Infraquinta E.M. continues to comply with its investments plan for the renewal of the water supply, sanitation and rainwater networks, a plan to which we commit ourselves along with the regulatory body and the partners that approved the forward management instruments, that includes the activities plan and budget for the year 2018.
Regarding the works in progress or, concluded in the meanwhile, it should be highlighted the pedestrian promenade at Avenida de Gondra, the wooden walkway next to the Lake and the conservation of the Roman Ruins. Given the security they transmit to the bystanders, the rich landscape and dignity that they transmit to the places, these works were proven to be necessary. No less necessary was the intervention in the Roman Ruins of Quinta do Lago.
The conservation works are finished, remaining now the musealization of the space with the dignity that it deserves. This space went unnoticed to the great majority of visitors of the nature trails in the Natural Park of Ria Formosa, reason why this space became a distinctive element and of great cultural wealth.
All three works above mentioned add value to the region and to the municipality of Loulé in its various dimensions, cultural and economic-tourist.
The first quarter of the year resulted in the rainiest of the last years, having been solved most of the problems of drought that the country was going through. This does not mean that we should slow down the strategies and the execution of the measures we set ourselves, to respond to EMAAC, Municipal Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change in Loulé. If there is immediate tranquillity about the existence of water, in the long term we continue to have to seek to implement measures that prevent the continuous waste of natural resources.
These measures must include reuse, to which Infraquinta prepared a project for the reuse of treated wastewater for irrigation and which we hope to achieve until the end of the year. The landscaping alternatives and gardening methods environmentally more sustainable, soft mobility measures and energetic efficiency are already becoming concrete actions, which will allow to reduce the carbon footprint in the region.
The works, still in progress, are expected to be completed shortly. It will put into practice the planning for the next season so that we can receive, with the quality that we intend and that is demanded from us, who chooses our municipality and this particular area for a holiday season.
There are many great challenges. What we projected, we believed to meet the needs, reaching the necessary dimension to solve the immediate, always thinking about the future.
“The future is constructed by our shifting and changing daily decisions, and each event influences all others.”
